What is Vardenafil?
Vardenafil is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It belongs to a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors. Vardenafil helps men achieve and maintain an erection sufficient for sexual activity. This medication is available in various forms, including tablets and orally disintegrating tablets, making it convenient for different preferences.
What is Vardenafil Used For?
Vardenafil is primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction, a condition where a man finds it difficult to achieve or maintain an erection. ED can result from various factors, including stress, anxiety, certain medical conditions, or age-related issues. By improving blood flow to the penis, Vardenafil helps men achieve a firmer and longer-lasting erection, enhancing sexual performance and satisfaction.
How it Works
Vardenafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. It inhibits the action of an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). This enzyme can restrict blood flow to the penis, making it difficult to achieve an erection. By blocking PDE5, Vardenafil allows the blood vessels in the penis to relax and expand, leading to improved blood flow and a successful erection. It’s important to note that Vardenafil only works in the presence of sexual arousal and does not increase sexual desire.
Dosage
Missed Dose
Vardenafil is taken as needed, about 30 to 60 minutes before sexual activity. There is no strict dosing schedule for Vardenafil since it is used only when required. If you miss a dose, you do not need to take a double dose to make up for it.
Overdose
Taking too much Vardenafil can increase the risk of serious side effects. If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an overdose may include severe dizziness, fainting, or a painful/prolonged erection (priapism).
Vardenafil Side Effects

- Headache
- Flushing (redness or warmth in the face, neck, or chest)
- Stuffy or runny nose
- Indigestion or upset stomach

- Sudden hearing decrease or loss
- Chest pain or an irregular heartbeat
